When applying online, please ensure that your application has been sent by checking for error messages on the form. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will be indicated by an error message in red at the top of the application. You will receive a confirmation email within 2 business days if your application has been successfully received.

We will accept PDFs, Word documents and JPEG files for artwork.


Attendance at an SWG retreat is a privilege and all applications are subjected to a rigorous juried process. Acceptance is determined by:

  • Quality of work decided by the writing sample/visual images submitted
  • Literary CV and publication/exhibition history
  • Benefits to be gained from the retreat experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Project description


  • Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial approximately two weeks after the deadline.
  • Upon acceptance, applicants have two weeks to make payments to secure their spots. Late fees will be levied on payments made after one month prior to the retreat.

  • Please note that the SWG staff will do their best to accommodate your needs in planning your retreat. While St. Peter’s kitchen staff try to accommodate retreat participants dietary needs, they cannot make individual specialty meals. You may need to provide certain foods to supplement the meals available.
Retreat Dates:
  • Please indicate the retreat dates you wish to attend and include a second choice. The maximum number of individual retreat weeks you may attend in a calendar year is four.
  • If availability is limited, then attendance will be restricted for those that have attended more than eight weeks of retreat in three years.
  • Preference will be given to Saskatchewan residents regarding availability and choice of retreat weeks.
