Joanne Paulson

  • Joanne Paulson was born, raised, educated and injected with ink in Saskatoon.
She started writing stories at age 5, and by Grade 6, was wondering how she was going to turn that love of English, words and writing into something that could actually support her. War correspondent! She thought.
By the time she hit university, it became clear to her that war coverage was only for the stoutest of heart, and she was a bit of a wimp where gunfire was involved. She studied political science, English and journalism, and took the knowledge into two careers: one in journalism, and the other in communications.
She was the business reporter and then business editor at The StarPhoenix, followed by a lengthy stint as arts editor.
After pursuing a short career in research communications, she spent three years as the editor of The Western Producer.
Her latest venture is JCP Communications, which focuses on magazine publishing and freelance journalism. Her columns can be found in the Saskatoon Express.
Three years ago, she finally tried the novel-writing thing. She has published two mystery novels, Adam's Witness and Broken Through, and intends to continue the series with Fire Lake, her work in progress.
