February 2020 has been proclaimed, by the Government of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Aboriginal Storytelling Month! The winter timing for Aboriginal Storytelling observes the First Nations traditional time for storytelling. The intent is to increase province-wide cultural activity levels of Aboriginal peoples; have Elders and Aboriginal storytellers demonstrate the cultural and historical value of storytelling and foster storytelling partnerships through joint planning with outside agencies and resources. The project involves schools, libraries, local agencies, universities, colleges and Aboriginal based organizations.
Learn skills in storytelling, public speaking, acting, and teamwork! Over two days, participants will work with facilitator Skyler Anderson to build stories through theatre exercise. Skyler - a 4th-year Theatre student - has worked with a number of Theatre professionals, & is currently preparing his 2nd production with the Globe Theatre.
