Write After Lunch: Digging for the Poem with Barbara Klar

Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Where: Ken Mitchell Library, SWG Office

“Writing poems is a bit like archeology. With enough excavation, patience and luck, you'll find an entire world down there. I'll discuss the process of digging deep to unearth the poem's rich potential.”

Please bring your bagged lunch to the Ken Mitchell Library, or join us on Facebook Live for a poetry-themed craft talk with Barbara Klar.

Barbara Klar has been publishing poems in journals, books, and anthologies for nearly thirty years. Her work has won numerous national and provincial awards including the Gerald Lampert Award, the Joseph Stauffer Prize, and the Wallace Stegner Grant for the Arts. Her most recent book is Cypress, a nominee for Saskatchewan Book of the Year. She has worked as a tree planter, camp cook, market gardener, editor, and as a mentor for the Banff Centre's Wired Writing Studio. She currently lives and writes in southwest Saskatchewan.
