Applicants may use one of three methods to submit: online using the Form below, by mail, and hand delivery. Please ensure that your application is legible.

Applications sent by mail should be addressed to:

Applications being hand-delivered (in person or courier only) should go to:

When applying online, please ensure that your application has been sent by checking for error messages on the form. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will be indicated by an error message in red at the top of the application. You will receive a confirmation email that it has been received.

We will accept PDFs, Word documents and JPEG files for artwork.


ADJUDICATION PROCESS

Attendance at an SWG retreat is a privilege and all applications are subjected to a rigorous juried process. Acceptance is determined by:

  • Quality of work decided by the writing sample/visual images submitted
  • Creative résumé and publication/exhibition history
  • Benefits to be gained from the retreat experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Project description

NB: This adjudication process takes approximately two weeks after the deadline to complete. After this, applicants are notified of their acceptance or denial. Upon acceptance, applicants have two weeks to make payments to secure their spots.

  • Please note that while kitchen staff will try to accommodate retreat participants dietary needs, they cannot make individual specialty meals. You may need to provide certain foods to supplement the meals available.
 
Fees:
  • St. Peter's Abbey: $350 for SWG and CARFAC SK members (Saskatchewan residents).
  • St. Peter's Abbey: $450 (Out of Province residents, members of SWG or CARFAC)
  • St. Peter's Abbey: $550 (Out of Province residents, non-members of SWG or CARFAC)
    • Payments must be received at the time of application
    • No post-dated cheques will be accepted.
    • Any additional costs incurred for alternate writing studios will be assumed by the writer, and paid directly to the facility management
    Retreat Dates:
    • Please indicate the retreat dates you wish to attend and include a second choice. The maximum number of individual retreat weeks you may attend in a calendar year is four.
    • If availability is limited, then attendance will be restricted for those that have attended more than eight weeks of retreat in three years.
    • Preference will be given to Saskatchewan residents regarding availability and choice of retreat weeks.
