Facilitated Retreat Application Guidelines
Applications must be legible and should include:
1. The completed application form from the retreat website
2. A covering letter that states:
a. Your name, address and phone numbers;
b. A short description of the type of work to be done at the retreat;
c. A paragraph or two describing your writing experience
d. A paragraph about why you wish to attend the Facilitated Retreat
e. Previous retreat stays, if any
f. The names and contact information for two references who are familiar with your writing and can attest to your ability to work independently
3. Sample Manuscript — no more than 10 pages—include a sample of what you will be working on as well as previous work (submit your best work) within the ten page sample. All work will be destroyed after the adjudication process.
4. Please send payment with your application. Payment may be submitted by cheque, PayPal or credit card (phoned in to the SWG office). Non-payment of fees will result in rejection of your application, without exception. A non-refundable late fee of $35 will apply to all applications received after the application deadline, and will be payable at the time of application.
Please do not use staples, binders or sheets that are not 8½ x 11". Paper clips are acceptable. Manuscript pages in excess of ten pages will not be processed. For online submissions, please follow online application procedure as noted on the application form below.
Applicants should note that if space is limited, publication history and previous retreat stays will determine residency, with preference given to those who have not had previous opportunities to attend. Preference will be given to Saskatchewan residents.
Applicants who apply by the deadline will be given first consideration although, if there are spaces available, applications will be considered up to two weeks prior to the beginning of the retreat period desired, provided a late fee is paid.
