SWG Requires Accounting Clerk

The Saskatchewan Writers' Guild (SWG) invites applications from experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join the team at its Regina office in the part-time position of Accounting Clerk.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of two years experience in Simply Accounting (or similar accounting software) and some secondary or post-secondary accounting training. Reporting to the Accountant, the Accounting Clerk will also work directly with the Executive Director and liaise with internal and external staff. This person must be bondable and have a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and have experience in departmental and project accounting. 

Duties include, but are not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, posting to the Guild's General Ledger, monthly account reconciliations, and related journal entries. The person in this position will work to ensure the accounting integrity of various programs administered by the Guild. This person will also have the ability to utilize spreadsheets, accounting, database, and word processing software in order to input, edit, update, and retrieve information. Knowledge of non-profits and cultural sector is an asset. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record daily revenue and expenses transactions
  • Reconcile accounts with bank statements
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare and issue cheques for business expenses
  • Process invoices
  • Manage accounts receivables and payables
  • Prepare monthly incomes/expense statements and reports
  • Maintain filing
  • Other duties the Accountant needs done or assigns 
  • Filing of GST and PST
Qualifications Required

  • Minimum two years experience with Sage Simply Accounting (or similar accounting software) and some secondary or post-secondary accounting training
  • A basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access Database
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Bondable 
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • A mature and responsible personality 
  • Attentive to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in departmental and project accounting
  • Experience with Email and PayPal 
  • Knowledge of non-profits and cultural sector an asset
  • Experience in departmental and project accounting
This 18 hour/week position offers a salary range of $16,848-$20,592 with excellent benefits.
