Speculative Fiction Workshop with Edward Willett

When: Wednesday, June 5 | 7:00—9:30 p.m.
Where: SWG Regina Office | Suite 100, 1150-8th Avenue
Cost: $35 for SWG members; $45 for non-members

Award-winning science fiction and fantasy author Edward Willett leads a workshop in writing speculative fiction via the Seven-Sentence Story: a plotting exercise that’s not only fun, it guarantees you’ll leave the workshop with a complete short story. Along the way he’ll talk about the SF market in general and tips on how to break into this exciting genre.

Edward Willett is the author of more than 50 books of fiction and nonfiction for adults, young adults and children. He won the Aurora Award for best Canadian science fiction novel in 2009 for Marseguro (DAW Books), republished last year in an omnibus edition with its sequel, Terra Insegura, under the title The Helix War. This year will see the re-release of his Saskatchewan Book Award-winning YA fantasy Spirit Singer by Tyche Books, plus a new science fiction novel, Right to Know, coming out from Bundoran Press, and Masks, the first book in a new fantasy trilogy, coming out from DAW in hardcover in November under the pseudonym E.C. Blake. Ed has taught numerous workshops and writing classes over the years, and was the 2011-2012 writer-in-residence at the Regina Public Library.
