Call for Applications: Spring 2013 Facilitated Retreat

The SWG is holding a Spring Facilitated Retreat, May 30-June 2, 2013 at Historic Bishop's Residence in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. At the SWG Facilitated Retreat, in addition to undisturbed writing time, Writer-In-Residence Sean Johnston will give an introductory talk on an aspect of writing, provide one hour of one-on-one discussion for feedback on your writing and/or answers to your writing-related questions, and join in with informal discussion at mealtimes with the other participants. The Facilitated Retreat is designed as a time for you to focus on the writing you would like to do and to gain encouragement and motivation by interacting with the Writer-In-Residence and your fellow participants. Note that there will be space for only SIX participants at the Facilitated Retreat in Gravelbourg.Sean Johnston’s most recent book is the poetry collection The Ditch Was Lit Like This and his new novel, Listen All You Bullets, will be published in September. His poetry and prose has been published in many journals throughout Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He’s been shortlisted for a ReLit Award three times, and won in the short fiction category for A Day Does Not Go By. He is currently on leave from the Writing and Publishing Program at Okanagan College, spending the year in Saskatoon and working on a new novel, The Whole Show.
Applicants (19 years and older) must submit an example of the writing they will be working on at the retreat, a paragraph or two describing their writing experience, and a paragraph explaining why they want to attend the SWG Facilitated Retreat, in addition to the application form available on the SWG website: http://www.skwriter.com/sk-writers-artists-retreats/facilitated-retreat-app-form.
Successful applicants will be invoiced by the SWG for $255, and payment will be due upon receipt of the invoice. Payment must be received by May 30 or the participant's spot may be given to another applicant on the waiting list. Payment may be made via PayPal, by cheque, or by credit card by phoning the SWG office at (306) 791-7740. Preference will be given to SWG members who have not published a book and who have never attended any of the SWG retreats. A maximum of SIX participants will be accepted.
Deadline for receipt of applications is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
