Call for artwork for Spring magazine’s cover design
The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is seeking artwork for the cover of Spring, a magazine of writing by emerging authors. The purpose of Spring is to showcase and encourage the work of new writers who have not yet published in book-length form (64 pages) and who have not yet entered into a contract with a book publisher. The theme for this volume will be one of “emerging” or “emergence.” The topic may be freely interpreted as the artist sees fit: coming into focus, materializing, being born, coming of age, etcetera.
Since this magazine is intended for emerging writers and artists, only those who are emerging artists from Saskatchewan (an artist who is at an early stage in his or her career, who has specialized training in the art form, and who has created a modest body of work) are encouraged to send their work. Submissions should include an artistic CV, a brief artist’s statement, and no more than 5 artworks in digital attachments (.jpg or .pdf format—good quality attachments will be requested upon selection of the artwork). The artwork may be scaled to fit the dimensions of the magazine.
Please send submissions to Tracy Hamon at firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for submissions is December 17, 2012.
