Entrants
must be Saskatchewan residents as
of 31 December 2004. |

Submissions
must be in the SWG office by
4:30 p.m. Thursday 30 June 2005. Late submissions will not be
accepted. |

A $25
entry fee must accompany the
entry. Make cheques and money orders payable to the Saskatchewan
Writers Guild. |

All
entries must be original work. |
5.
|
No more
than 50% of the manuscript may be
previously published in magazines and anthologies or by broadcast media. |
6.
|
The
manuscript may not be published before
the announcement of the competition winners in October 2005, although
it may have been accepted for publication. |
7.
|
Only one
entry per person is allowed in the
manuscript awards.
|
8.
|
The
manuscript must be a minimum of 35,000
words in length. |
9.
|
The
writer’s name and contact information
should appear only on the cover letter. All entries will be
numbered
upon receipt so that they may be judged anonymously. If the
writer’s
name appears on any page of the manuscript, it will not be accepted for
the competition. The name of the manuscript may appear on both
the
cover page and subsequent pages. |

There is
no entry form; instead, a cover
letter is required that includes the following:
- the writer’s name and complete
contact
information (address, home and work phone, E-mail if available)
- confirmation of the following:
- that the writer was a resident of
Saskatchewan as of 31 December 2004
- that the work is original to the
writer
- that it will not have been
published
before
the announcement of the awards in October (although it may have been
accepted for publication)
- that no more than 50% of the MS has
been
previously published or broadcast
- the number of words in the MS

The
following criteria must be followed or
the entries will not be accepted:
- submissions must be in English
- the entries must be on 8 ½ x
11-inch white bond paper of standard weight (e.g. 20-pound)
- entries must be single-sided
- entries must be double-spaced
- a one inch margin on all sides
- pages should be numbered
sequentially
- entries must be typed (black ink)
- font size should be 12 point
- fonts used should be plain text
(e.g. Times
New Roman,
Arial, Courier)
and not italics or display fonts (such
as Algerian)
- to fasten submissions, use paper
clips
(including fold-back clips) or rubber bands—avoid any fastener which
goes through the paper (including binders, presentation covers, or coil
binding)
- good-quality photocopies are
acceptable
- we will not accept entries on disk
or
those sent by fax or E-mail

Manuscripts
will not be returned. |
13.
|
Judges may
decide not to award a particular
prize if they believe no submission merits it. |
14.
|
The
decisions of the jury will be final.
