Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild: Workshop Instructors Needed (Regina)
In partnership with the First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) the SWG is seeking two emerging writers to act as co-instructors for Bringing Back the Buffalo: Aboriginal Youth Writers’ Retreat. This workshop takes place from August 7--10, 2012 at the FNUniv in Regina, and will require an additional time commitment for assistance in editing the SWG Aboriginal Youth Literary anthology.
We are looking for two emerging writers to assist in facilitating a four day workshop for youth with the Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leader, Carol Morin. Aboriginal applicants will be given preference. The successful applicants should be entering his/her writing career and looking to further develop his/her skills. In addition to acting as co-instructors to a more established writer, the emerging writers will have the opportunity to learn from and be mentored by the Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leader. The successful applicant may have published work, but an extensive literary resume is not required.
- You will be spending four days with a group of fifteen to twenty Aboriginal youth aged 14 — 22
- You will be teaching youth the principles of creative writing
- The youth will be given the opportunity to share their work and have it submitted to the SWG Aboriginal Youth Literary anthology
