Bio

  • Jennifer Wynne Webber is a playwright, novelist, and actor. Her first play, Beside Myself, has been produced in Saskatoon, Meacham and Vancouver and is published by Scirocco Drama. Her first novel, Defying Gravity, was published by Coteau Books in 2000 and was nominated for three Saskatchewan Book Awards including Book of the Year. In 2007, her drama, Whistling at the Northern Lights, was selected by a Berlin-based jury for a Canadian theatre export program to Germany. That play, and her comedy, Peaches and Cream, have both been presented at the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre's Spring Festival of New Plays. A former broadcast journalist, Jennifer spent 13 years working for CBC Television in Alberta and Saskatchewan as a documentary producer and arts reporter. Recently, she has again been writing for film and TV, developing a number of projects including one new TV series which recently garnered network development funding. Jennifer recently completed her M.F.A. in Creative Writing through the University of British Columbia. She lives in Saskatoon.
