Bio

  • Steve Wolfson is a Regina based author and filmmaker.

    His children’s picture books include, “Monster Cheese”, “Elephants At The Airport,” and the soon to be published “Filbert the Lonely Flamingo”, winner of Saskatchewan Writers Guild Best Children’s Manuscript . Steve’s poetry for children has been published in the Prairie Jungle anthology.

    The ever popular “Monster Cheese”, illustrated by Bill Johnson, was first published by Coteau Books in 1985. It won the Alcuin Citation for the best design in a Canadian children’s book. “Monster Cheese”, mythical, magical and a lot of fun (Regina Leader Post) was republished by Argami Productions in Florida. It is available in paperback and eBook versions. www.monstercheese.ca

    “Elephants At the Airport”, illustrated by Heleen Brulot, was published by Argami Productions in November, 2013. The book is already delighting young readers. Many parents and children can relate to the story of a young girl moving and having to get used to a very different culture. www.elephantsattheairport.com

    As a filmmaker, Steve has written, directed and produced many documentaries and other films. His television series, “Edifice & Us”, includes 26 episodes that highlight Saskatchewan’s most interesting buildings. He is also a producer and director of Weyburn An Archaeology of Madness. www.wolfsonsworld.com

    Steve has toured extensively in Saskatchewan and beyond. He is available for readings of his writing for children and workshops in schools and libraries on writing for children as well as various aspect of filmmaking.
