Bio

  • Judith Silverthorne is a multiple-award winning Regina-based writer. She has lived most of her life in Saskatchewan, in both urban and rural settings, which is the inspiration for much of her material.

    As a freelance writer, she has written several hundred articles and columns for newspapers and magazines. She is the author of eight books; six of them are children's novels and two non-fiction adult books. She has been an art curator, television documentary producer, writer, researcher and consultant.

    She currently does freelance work evaluating, editing, proof-reading, and critiquing manuscripts for individuals and publishers. She also writes book reviews. As well, she is an instructor of film classes for SIAST and teaches English to foreign students.

    She does numerous author presentations and readings for schools and libraries each year and speaks at special functions and conferences for teachers, writers and librarians. She also conducts numerous writing workshops, courses and classes and has worked as a Writer-in-Residence.

    Her clients consist of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild, University of Regina (Continuing Education and Senior??½s Education Centre), Saskatoon School Board, Festival of Words and Sage Hill Writing Experience, New Media Campus, Pahkisimon Nuye???½h Library System (PNLS) (in northern Saskatchewan communities) and the Oxford Learning Centre.

    Her books, The Secret of Sentinel Rock (1996) and Dinosaur Hideout{ (2003) won the Saskatchewan Book Award for Children's Literature (1996 and 2003 respectively. The Secret of the Stone Circle will be released by Coteau Books in 2010. Currently she is managing editor for spring Vol VI.
