Spring is published bi-annually, funding permitted, by the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild. The purpose of Spring is to showcase and encourage the work of new writers who have not yet published in book-length form (64  pages) and who have not yet entered into a contract with a book publisher. All contributors are Saskatchewan residents or members of Saskatchewan Writers' Guild. Spring is provided free to all members of the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild and available for purchase for $6.00.

Submission Guidelines


Spring is published every two years. The next call for submissions will go out in 2011.
Spring editors will consider poetry, fiction, and non-fiction from Saskatchewan residents or members of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild who have not yet published in book-length form (64 pages). Entrants must also not have a contract with a book publisher. Writers selected for publication will receive payment.

The guidlines are as follow:
  1. Deadline for receipt of submissions for Volume VII will be announced in 2010.
  2. Submissions must be previously unpublished in any format.
  3. The maximum length for fiction and non-fiction is 3,000 words and for poetry is six poems totalling no more than 12 manuscript pages. Excerpts from longer prose and poetry works will be considered.
  4. In a covering letter, include your name, contact information, and the genre(s) and title(s) of your submission(s).
  5. Entries must be in English, typed, double-spaced for prose, and single-sided on 8 1/2 x 11-inch white paper. Good-quality photocopies are acceptable. We will not accept submissions on disk or by fax.
  6. Include a SASE with sufficient postage if you want your submission returned. Keep a copy of your submission for your own files.
  7. Include a short biography that will appear in the magazine should your submission be published.
